Austin grew up in and out of foster homes, not having many good living situations. After he barely passed highschool, he joined the Air Force where he excelled at flying jets. A few years into his Air Force career, he was abducted by aliens who ran experiments on him then sent him back down to Earth in bad condition. His emergency contact was the only person he knew he could rely on: Leo Thomas. After being called to take him home atfter he recovered enough to be discharged from the hospital, the two regrew their relationship. Once he was able to discharge from the military, he got his degree in edcuation and began to teach highschool math. A few years after Austin graduated college, he and Leo began to foster and adopt Bentley, Colie, Mason, and Lloyd.
